What Will We Be Doing?

The Scope and Sequence document gives you an idea of what we will be covering each unit and how many class days we will have to cover the content. The number of class days is subject to change.

The American Promise

In US History we will using what’s called the "Big Idea" approach to studying the past through the lens of one significant issue. Our big idea is “The American Promise:” the promise of equality, freedom, representation, and opportunity for all, as stated in The Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights.

Questions to revisit during each unit:

  • What is the "American Promise"

  • What do you believe is most important about the American Promise?

  • When have we failed to fulfill the "American Promise"?

  • When have we moved closer to living up to our highest ideals as a nation?

  • How will studying the "American Promise" this year impact your future academic work, your career, your personal goals, and your participation in local, community, and national events and politics?
